Rupert Jones - Writer/Director



After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art, where he was awarded the Heriot Watt Medal for drawing and painting, Rupert moved to London and founded Ear Drum Music, writing music for various independent and touring theatre companies.

After a spell working as a storyboard artist, he started writing and directing;

Rupert has a prolific music background directing pop promos for the likes of The Streets, Starsailor, Killa Kela, El Presidente, McFly, Charlotte Church, Gomez, Ash and Sophie Ellis Bextor

Most recently he has directed the entire first series of the French and Saunders production VIVIENNE VYLE starring Jennifer Saunders, Miranda Richardson, Jason Watkins and Conleth Hill. The series is a co-production between BBC UK and BBC America.

THE SICKIE, a short film directed by Rupert, premiered at the London Film Festival and received a "TCM highly recommended" and won the AUDIENCE Award and the ARTE Award at the Angers First Film Festival 2007. It is testament to Rupert’s ability to get strong performances and a sense of comedy that is subtle, playful, moving and highly cinematic.

Rupert collaborates with Neil Hunter and has a number features in development including Cossacks with The Bureau.
